After having books published by *Penguin SA,  Cambridge University Press, Gecko Books, and The Writing School and receiving very modest royalties, I decided to self-publish in the hope of earning a better income.

I took the manuscript of Something to Read on the Plane to Helen Osborne and together we discussed the layout, size and design of the book. Helen set it out on the computer and inserted the cartoons. She also edited the book before making a trial 50 copies. I was pleased with the finished product and the book was accepted by Exclusive books. Helen then sourced a printer and negotiated a price for printing 1000 copies. The books sold steadily through several outlets and I soon recouped my expenses and began making a profit far in excess of my books published by the mainstream publishers. I found Helen to be helpful, efficient and professional and can recommend the Osborne Porter Agency to other writers looking to self-publish.
